9 Makeup Blunders that Make You Look Older

Yes, I know, we all age! But that doesn’t mean we have to make things worse by applying makeup in the wrong way. How you apply the makeup makes a huge difference when it comes to how youthful you want to look. So, let’s go over a few things that nobody should ever do….

1) Over-tweezing your eyebrows
The eyebrows frame in your face and give it definition. Once you tweeze too much, the hairs don’t always grow back, and you can end up looking like you don’t have eyebrows at all. Big mistake…

2) Not tinting your eyebrows
This applies to anyone with blonde, gray or white eyebrows. Let’s face it, you might need a little bit of color to ensure that your eyebrows don’t turn invisible. I love using an eyebrow tint called Refectocil, which is available on amazon.com. Light brown is the PERFECT color for anyone with naturally light eyebrows.

3) Too much lip liner, choosing a color that is too bright, and lipstick on your teeth!!!!
Lipstick on the teeth is the worst!!! Nothing makes you look older than lipstick on your teeth. Except too much lip liner drawn outside the lips, especially in a dark color. When the lipstick wears off and only your lip liner is left, like a ring around your mouth…Ayeee… I just have to look the other way…

The solution is easy. If you insist on using a lip liner, don’t draw it too far outside your natural lip line. After you draw the line, feather it inwards with a lip brush so it covers a bigger part of your lips. That way, it will look more natural when your lip stick wears off.

As we get older, the coloring softens, which means that bright lipstick will stand out like a sore thumb. Maybe consider trying something a little softer? It will match your coloring so much better.

And, as for lipstick on the teeth, try this handy trick: After putting your lip stick on, put one finger in your mouth and pull it out with closed lips. Then look at your finger – all that red stuff would have ended up on your teeth, lol.

4) Wrong color foundation
Sometimes, when you feel pale, it is tempting to use a foundation that is darker than your skin tone. Unfortunately, darker foundation makes your face look dirty. So, stick with your natural skin tone, and try not to go too pink in your foundation color. Pink foundation almost always looks fake, so it is better to pick a neutral color, or foundation with a slightly yellow undertone.

5) Not using blush
Blush is your best remedy for pale skin. As an added bonus, it helps your eyes pop as well. If you have aging skin, a cream blush looks a lot more natural.

6) Not exfoliating
Yep, dull skin makes you look older than you are. Trust me, you need to exfoliate a couple of times a week, either with a face scrub or an enzyme mask.

7) Not wearing sunscreen
I can always tell who has been wearing sunscreen, and who hasn’t. I don’t even have to ask. Just one look at their skin, and I know. It really does make a difference. Just stay away from the ones that contain nasty sunscreen chemicals. Creams with natural zinc and titanium, like the Green Beauty foundation or face balm, works just fine.

8) Too much black eye liner
Black is very harsh, unless your hair is naturally black. Try brown, navy or gray as a softer alternative. And, be careful not to make the line too thick on the bottom lashes. A thick line on the bottom brings attention to sags, bags and wrinkles. So use a light hand and try to get the line right on top of your lower lash line, not below it.. Unless your eyes are really big, it is best not to put liner on the bottom waterline, because that can make your eyes look smaller. You’ll have to experiment and see for yourself.

9) Wearing mascara on the lower lashes
Again, anything you wear on or near the lower lashes could bring attention to lines and bags. It is better to pile the mascara on the top lashes, and leave the bottom lashes clean.

So, there you have it. 9 things not to do if you want to look your best. I hope it inspired you, and if you like this article, please share it on social media.
