Have you ever wondered why menopausal skin seems to age so much faster than in younger women? I have heard that we age 10 times faster, and the thought doesn’t exactly fill me with glee…

Hormonally, estrogen levels decrease during menopause and androgens and adrenalin take over. This is why menopausal women often feel unexplainable anxiety for no apparent reason. It is because the adrenalin levels are higher than we are used to and the brain interprets it as a sign of danger. The reason why we produce more adrenalin is because it is chemically similar to estrogen.. The body can use it in place of estrogen, although, emotionally, we don’t know this…

The effect of sun exposure on menopausal skin…

Lack of estrogen also causes lack of collagen in the skin. In addition, UV exposure breaks down the collagen even further. So, once you hit menopause, using sunscreen is more important than ever if you want your skin to stay smooth longer.

Thinner skin

We always used to make fun of her for all the potions and lotions in her bathroom, but she has proven us all wrong. Good skincare makes a huge difference….
