I hate lipstick! I really do!!!
Maybe it is because my skin tone is weird, so nothing looks right on me (except for my own sheer lip tints, LOL). The only lipsticks I can get away with are really sheer lipsticks that blend with my natural lip color. Anything else looks fake and painted.
My skin tone has a definite yellow undertone, while my lips are more plummy. I have heard that this is a common thing in Scandinavians. But it makes it pretty impossible to pick a lipstick that actually matches both your skin tone and your natural lip shade.
Over the years, I have collected bag-fulls of lipsticks that I NEVER use. I try, and then wipe them off, because most of them look awful.
However, the other day, I just happened to stumble over a video tutorial that gave me hope for my pile of unusable lipsticks – maybe I can use them after all?
Lisa Eldridge is showing you how to apply a lipstick in her super duper tutorial. She has picked one of the most unusable colors of lipsticks you can imagine, and shows you 4 different ways of applying this horrible color in such a way that it can flatter pretty much anyone…
This is pure magic!!! If you have a few minutes, check it out! It is fascinating what you can do when you are a makeup artist. In the mean time, I’m off to buy another lipstick in an awful color so I can play too….
